Presentation of the group

5 Seconds Of Summer, aka 5SOS is a australian group made of 4 members; Ashton Irwin, Calum Hood, Michael Clifford and Luke Hemmings. This band was created in 2011 in Sydney.

At the beginning, there were only Michael, Calum and Luke doing covers ( videos of themselves singing popular songs) on YouTube. In December 2011, they decided to found another bandmate and Ashton joined the band; 5 Seconds Of Summer was created.

They have signed with Sony Music and their first EP, Unplugged have became #3 in Australian Charts, without any publicity except on social networks like Twitter and Facebook.

In 2012, they released their first single, Out of My Limit, Somewhere New EP: including Beside You and Unpredictable.  They also have supported Hot Chelle Rae on their Whatever World Tour.

During this year, the four boys have support the famous boysband One Direction for their worldwide tour, the Take Me Home Tour. They have supported 1D on their UK, American, Australian and NZ shows. They also have been on their own tour in Australia, the Pants Down Tour, and the tickets have been sold in a few minutes.

It’s in 2013 that they started to become very famous on social networks, especially on Twitter where they are really present for answering fans or making jokes.

On February, they released their song, She Looks So Perfect, their first song we could ear on the radio in France! On March, the group released She Looks So Perfect EP, including 4 new songs. On the same month, they announced that they will support One Direction, again, for their Where We Are Tour.

2014 was the year of tours, they went in the UK for the UK Tour during February and March, in March and April, for the first time, they came to Europe (somewhere else than in the UK) for their 5 Countries 5 Days European Tour, these five countries were Sweden, Germany, France, Italy and Spain. They also have done a North American Tour, the Stars, Stripes and Maple Syrup Tour, and one last tour in Australia during May 2014, the There’s No Place Like Home Tour. ( + supporting One Direction from May to October)

2014 was also the first album’s year. 5 Seconds Of Summer, have been released on June (except for Japan, Mexico, Canada and USA, where it have been released in July). The album have been #1 on 13 countries charts (#4 in France) and have been certified GOLD in Australia, Canada, Italy, Spain and UK.

In 2015, 5SOS will be on their first worldwide tour, the Rock Out With Your Socks Out Tour. 

The boys don’t want the medias to call them a « boyband » because they write their own songs, play their own instruments and don’t dance.

          

Michael Clifford

Michael Gordon Clifford is, as Luke, a guitarist and does some vocals. He was born on 20th November 1995 (he’s 18) and he doesn’t have brothers and sisters.

As Luke (who he used to hate) and Calum, he has been to Norwest Christian College.

Michael has wanted to learn to play the guitar after playing to Guitar Hero. He loves changing his hair color (blue, pink, green, black and white,…) and he is obsessed by girls. As Calum, before their own concerts, he has never been to a concert.

Luke Hemmings

Luke Roberts Hemmings is the main singer of the group and is also a guitarist. He was born on 16th July 1996 (18 years old) in Sydney. He has two brothers, Ben and Jack.

He has been to Norwest Christian College (like Calum and Michael) but he used to hate Michael, and now, they’re bestfriends. Like the others, he didn’t know Ashton before he joined the group in December 2011.

His lip is pierced, and he used to skateboarding. He’s the more nervous of the 4 guys, especially before a show.

Calum Hood

Calum Thomas Hood is the bass guitarist of the band and he also, as Michael, do the vocals and has some solos. He was born on 25th January, 1996 (he’s 18). He has a sister, Mali Koa. He isn’t asian, but he has origins from Scotland and New-Zealand.

Before the group, his bestfriend was Michael, and he was in Norwest Christian College, like Michael and Luke. He didn’t know Ashton.

He’s not the main singer of the group, but he often has long solos, like in Amnesia.

He loves Katy Perry and has given up Highschool. He used to play football and doesn’t like when people call him « asian » but he has nothing against asians, because he loves everybody.

Ashton Irwin

Ashton Fletcher Irwin is the drummer of the band, but he also does some vocals, and sometimes solos. He was born on the 7th July, 1994 (so he’s 20) in Hornsby in Australia. He has got a brother, Harry and a sister, Lauren.

He has been to Richmond Highschool and has been graduated. He has been in another band, called Swallow The Goldfish and didn’t know the other boys, before joining 5SOS.

He joined the group in December 2011, after passing the auditions organnized by the 3 other guys; Luke, Calum and Michael. At the beginning, they didn’t want him in the band because he was wearing a weird purple t-shirt and didn’t like to play FIFA.

He’s often called « ash », and the song he prefers playing is 18. He has received his first drums at the age of 8, and has worked in KFC.
